Known as Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Carnival in Rio and Carnivalle in Venice, Hastings has Fat Tuesday (English for Mardi Gras).

In the 15 years since its conception, Hastings Fat Tuesday Music Festival has rapidly become one of the most eagerly anticipated events in the East Sussex coastal towns busy cultural calendar. It has now grown into a fully-fledged five-day music festival of national importance.

Alongside the festival, Hastings Fat Tuesday CIC delivers a year-round programme of activity to support and promote creative opportunities to people at all stages of their lives. This includes the biennial ‘Sonics’ electronic music festival and a range of live music events and community sessions/workshops - Fat Tuesday Club, Youth Second Line Band, Under the Radar - a showcase for emerging artists and Skinny Sunday, our youth led music festival.

Our aim has always been to provide high quality music for all which is open and accessible, but to do this we have to raise significant funding to ensure that most of our activities are free.

Hastings is home to many musical genres and 'Mardi Gras' is an attempt to capture the unique musical culture of the town we love. All ten artists have played at the festival numerous times and are donating these tracks to help us raise funds to support our community outreach and development work with young people.

We would like to thank all involved in helping us to create this record, and hope it encourages you to discover some of the incredible artists who live and work in Hastings.
